Verfechter days 2011

hey verfechter and friends!

we proudly announce the ….

VERFECHTER DAYS 2011

Update: you can now find the preliminary timetable for all the events on the verfechter days 2011 page!

yeah, it is already our 7th edition and we are not getting tired of it. this year there will be some new things about the verfechter days. first of all it is the place. after several times on isel, oetz and now even valais, we decided to keep the party near so that also weekenders can join easily. the verfechter days 2011 will take place on river inn in engadine (switzerland).
also the date is a lot earlier, thanks to better water in mid-summer and the verfechter stikine expedition in september. the verfechter days 2011 will take place from july 22nd to 24th.
Location: Cinuos Chel (Brail) at the Camping Chapella.
Check these pages when the event approaches, as there will be some special features. take care!

see you soon on the river,
scheuer.

short-distance winter escape: liguria/tuscany end of 2010

end of 2010 came with cool force and made us flee to the south. this year we all were short in time, so we skipped portugal and chose a much nearer destination. after checking out the region around la spezia in dec 2009, we took two more attempts in november and december.

first time thomas motz, jules and me took profit of a long weekend and decided the rivers on the gulf of genova. after 7 hours of driving (from augsburg) we pitched the tent in gipsy style next to the main road in magra valley. most of the rivers are concentrated in the valley of magra at the border between tuscany and liguria. in two days we paddled taverone, frigido and gordana. after taverone with medium flow (THE classical river in the area) and the frigido with low flow (gave us much time to admire the carrara marble), for sure the most crazy run was on gordana. luckily our local friend lorenzo not only gave us accomodation in his house in sarzana but also guided us down that hidden gem. three gorges are blocking the valley, each of them runnable and pristine (awesome scenery included), one hairy portage with climbing on ice-covered cliffs. and of course snow during the whole run!

good reason to spend sunday in la spezia to see the local yoghurterias.

you’ll find some photos of that trip in the galery

in last week of december we came again with salome, jules, felix and jonas.

better weather, but same so-so levels kept us at vara, taverone (including the furious trib tavernelle) and sturla before the boys headed further to the french border.
